Linux Mint 13 - Not So Fast

Last night after my previous post about Linux Mint 13 I started having problems streaming YouTube videos again. This seems related to the Flash plugin. While Flash seems to work fine on Windows or OS X, it's buggy in Linux.

What a PITA. I'll be glad when Flash dies.

It might depend on what version of Flash you are using, not sure what Mint is shipping with these days. I'm using the 64 bit version of on Gentoo with Firefox 10.0.6 and haven't had any problems for the last several releases. At least not anything other than the usual Flash problems, fuzzy video and high CPU usage.

You might want to check this out, too:

Also forgot to mention, there are known problems with some versions of the proprietary nVidia drivers.

Thanks, Alan, I will check these out.

Using HTML5 on YouTube didn't help. I'm now leaning in the direction of the nVidia drivers.
