The implementation of stateful packet inspection on the Linksys BEFSR11 router I use at home leaves something to be desired. I turned it on last night, and discovered when I came into the office this morning that I can no longer login to mail.building-tux.com remotely. After a bit of googling, I discovered that the main effect of enabling SPI on this box is to turn off port forwarding.
Crap. Linksys could have documented this.
Oh well, since mail.building-tux.com hosts my personal email there's no real harm done in my case. Of course, this could be a big problem in a different environment. I'll disable SPI when I get home and watch as the flood of pent up spam crashes in.
